Together We Recycle

Together We Recycle

This year has been one of the most challenging years, filled with much uncertainty, yet with all the has occurred during the initial Covid-19 lockdown and even now as we are still facing many challenges to our health, lifestyle and economy, there has been a significant desire and shift towards increased awareness of taking care of our planet and each other. Statistics show that the number of people who are ready to change their lifestyle to help the environment has increase year on year with 93% of UK households currently agreeing that ‘everyone has a responsibility to help towards cleaning up the environment’. This years theme for recycle week "TOGETHER WE RECYCLE" is a celebration for all of the hard work that the public and key workers have done through Covid-19 to continue recycling.

We can all make a difference and take part in the global movement that inspires businesses and individuals to support environmental issues, and collectively, we can be a more powerful source in solving the world's problems.

Plastic pollution is now a crisis, it has been found in all corners of our oceans, from the north pole to the south pole. We are all responsible and should be held accountable. A sustainable future has to be our focus, no longer should we shop for products because of the attractive packaging, we need to change our mindset, look to buy products that have minimal packaging, plastic free or reduced plastic. We should champion manufacturers, companies and brands that are trying to be more sustainable, and we should hold the plastics industry accountable for their role in our planets plastic crisis.

The Cosmetic Industry

Sometimes as shoppers we drive the market and this is often the case in the cosmetics industry.  So, the question to ask yourself is, would you buy a great product if it had simplified packaging?  To test the market ekseption has released a range of products in light weight PET packaging like the one below in image below. Through this action they have reduced their carbon footprint and achieved a 70% reduction in plastic on this range of products, further more PET packaging can be recycled and made into other forms of containers and packaging (if recycled and not sent to landfill).
